On Wednesday, the Toyota Motor Corp has said that it is going to recall the older vehicles to the tune of 361,000 in the world for probably defective inflators of air bags
This defect is something that involves a separate type of the Takata Inflator than the ones which have prompted the largest recall for the safety of automobiles covering over 42 million vehicles in the United States by the 19 automakers with the air bag inflators of Takata.
Honda Motor Co. had said this Tuesday that it is going to recall as many as 2.7 million older vehicles from United States in the North American markets for the same type of the inflator which Toyota has also been recalling. Takata has issued a new notice of defect in the month of November for the inflators from the four automakers which include Toyota and Honda.
This new recall is going to cover some of the Toyota RAV4 EV and the Celica as well as Supra vehicles with the front driver inflator of airbag including the 139,000 in United States.
This notice has come after the recall of over 200,000 vehicles in United States for a similar type of the inflator post the death of a driver which took place in Australian from the rupture of an air bag that involved on of these inflators in addition to the incidents which happened in Cyprus and Australia.
A minimum of 25 people have been injured or have lost their lives from these inflators that have the potential of exploding when they are deployed and spray a deadly metal fragment. The regulators of the United States have said that the cause of this explosion is the breaking down of the propellant.
