Ford has been trying very hard to be active in the fight against changing climate by recycling the waste of old coffee from the fast food giant McDonald’s into their car parts. The automaker is going to take the food from McDonald’s and divert it from the landfill to their laboratories where they engineer it into bioplastics as per Ford. Further, there is another benefit apart from the recycling of food waste which is the effort to make the parts of the car lighter as they use less amount of petroleum and also reduce the emission of CO2.
The industry of automobiles is facing a lot of pressure regarding the reduction of the tailpipe emissions and increasing the electric vehicles production. More than 25% of the all of the emissions of carbon come from the sector of transportation. Ford is among one of the four automakers in the globe who have deified the administration of Trump and reached a deal regarding the increase of fuel economy with California. This would mean that they are going to reduce the amount of emissions from their fleet of new vehicles till the year 2026.Turning a coffee bean’s dried skin which falls in the process of roasting into the auto parts is an effort which cannot be termed as significant by any stretch of imagination however Ford is hoping that this is going to give a boost to its environmental goodwill.
Ford believes that together, Ford and McDonald’s are capable of providing a new usage for the materials that are wasted during the process of roasting coffee beans as both companies discovered that this chaff can be possibly made into a durable material which reinforces a few parts of vehicles.
