The Flu season for the period 2019-20 is now up and running and it has got off to an extremely weird beginning.
The activity of flu has seen an elevation since the beginning of November and it is expected that it will continue its climb. The reports of CDC in their latest update of flu have said that this arrival has started a few weeks before it had done earlier in the past years.
The season of flu in U.S. can go up in the months of fall and reach their peak at a time between the months of December and March and then leave the country during the month of May. In the previous 36 years, flu has usually started ramping up in the month of December and peaked during early February. However during this winter the CDC has said that there is a chance of 40% that the flu is going to reach its peak in the month of December on the basis of the activity thus far.
This season the flu which is Influenza like might peak earlier and it has been very unusually driven by the strain of the influenza B strain. This does not necessarily say that it is good or bad, it is just that it is very unusual since majority of the flu seasons have the type ‘A’ virus as its driving force. This type of a virus is usually identified and numbered by the Hs along with the Ns
H here refers to the hemagglutinin and N here refers to the neuraminidase, both of with are viral molecules which hang on the outside of the particles of the virus.
