Disney+ gets off to a good start as Netflix loses subscribers

Disney+ appears to have gotten off to a great start as per the analysts who said that this streaming service by the end of the month of November had as many as 24 million subscribers in the United States and that also meant that the gains of Disney were the loss of Netflix.

The report that had come from the Cowen & Co. had made an estimate that close to 1 million of the subscribers in United States had their subscriptions canceled and they signed up for the new streaming service that has been received strongly ever since it had launched in November. The streaming service has been promoted aggressively and at the forefront of promotions is the popular Marvel collection. It had previously said that close to 10 million users had signed up one day post the launch of the service. There is a study which says that close to 19.4 million subscribers have opted for both Disney + and Netflix which indicates close to 80% overlap between Disney and Netflix.

The report of Cowen has topped off a mixed year for Netflix and their subscriber targets. Netflix had raised their prices of subscription earlier this year but had missed their forecast in the third quarter of the company and had reported that 126,000 subscribers had been lost in the second quarter of 2019.

Disney had started steadily pulling a few people off Netflix in the lead up to the lunch of Disney. And the products of Disney which were on Netflix had been cancelled like Jessica Jones and Daredevil soon after the announcement of Disney +. Netflix is now looking to focus on the family oriented content for competing with Disney+.
